Registering a food business in New South Wales
The NSW Food Authority licenses some food businesses, and the rest answer to their local council. The Food Authority says a business it licenses does not need a food safety supervisor. Check with the Food Authority or your council which applies to you, and keep the paperwork with your other documents.
Food safety supervisor
The NSW Food Authority says a retail, hospitality or food service business needs at least one food safety supervisor per premises if the food it prepares and serves is ready to eat, needs temperature control, and is not sold in the supplier's original package. The Food Act 2003 requires the certificate to be renewed every 5 years, and the business must keep a copy of the certificate on the premises.
Records Hospitality Shield keeps
Standard 3.2.2A is a national standard. It can ask a venue in New South Wales for a trained food safety supervisor, trained food handlers and records of key activities. Hospitality Shield keeps those records with checklists and temperature logs, training certificates and documents, and prints them as a record pack for any dates.
Hospitality Shield lists the registration and supervisor documents for your own state. We have researched Western Australia in the most depth, so confirm any duty that is particular to your state with the regulator named below.
